Help us record the amazing wildlife of the hills

The Bathgate Hills provide an amazing habitat for local wildlife. Many plants and animals make their homes in the wonderful variety of hills, valleys, lochs, trees, forests and land.

We’d like to begin to record what amazing wildlife lives in the hills, without disturbing them, and would love your help!

It would be great if you could grab a photo of what you see when walking, running or cycling and share it. Don’t worry if you don’t know what you are seeing – other people will help with identification.

Through this project we’ll build a wonderful databank of the amazing plants and animals sharing our beautiful hills.

There are two different ways you can get involved

Upload your photographs here and we will identify and add them for you

Click or drag files to this area to upload. You can upload up to 10 files.

Upload them directly to iNaturalist and build your own sightings records

1. Log into the iNaturalist website or download the app - it's free
2. Find our Bathgate Hills project and join it as a member
3. Snap a few photos when you are out and upload them

Take some photos and then upload them, adding them to the Bathgate Hills project – either at the time or later.

The app will help you identify the plant or animal, and if you are not sure then others will help over the next few days.
